Arsenal are currently not in advanced talks for Tammy Abraham. They are informed on his situation as they like him – but it’s not an ‘advanced deal’ with Chelsea yet.
Chelsea are aware of Arsenal interest but have not received any official bid from Arsenal FC as of today.
This morning at Cobham, the group and Tuchel’s coaching staff gathered before heading off to the airport board their place to Ireland. A training session is planned for this afternoon following the Blues arrival.
The likes of N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Antonio Rudiger and Mateo Kovacic are expected to report back for pre-season training this week had three weeks off after their exploits at Euro 2020, but football.london understands none of that quartet have travelled to Ireland.
It’s unclear whether they will do as things stands or whether they will begin pre-season work at Cobham.
The group that has travelled to Dublin is made-up of the players who have been training over the past week, minus Tino Anjorin and Ian Maatsen.
The Chelsea squad that is understood to have flown to Ireland is below.
Goalkeepers: Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalga, Jamie Cumming, Lucas Bergstrom
Defenders: Dujon Sterling, Davide Zappacosta, Trevoh Chalobah, Jake Clarke-Salter, Malang Sarr, Matt Miazga, Marcos Alonso, Baba Rahman
Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Baker
Wingers: Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Charly Musonda, Hakim Ziyech
“He (Sarri) is an excellent coach; fantastic at organising the team, planning ahead of matches and setting up training to suit his plans.
“He got the team playing good football – maybe we didn’t start playing well quickly enough at the beginning, but I just think that was down to the fact that his ideas take a bit of time for players to get used to.
“He’s a very demanding coach, with a lot of training, especially tactical training. It can be tiring for the players.
“Also, I think Maurizio took a bit of time to understand how demanding the Premier League is for players.
“There are times when it isn’t possible to train for a match as much as you’d like, because there are so many games and they are all competitive. Sometimes the players need rest.
“There was a section of the season through the winter where we had a few problems, and the players were almost rejecting what we were doing because they were so fatigued.
“In hindsight, we should have recognised this sooner and made changes to help the players. Eventually we did, and we came good together.”
Marko Grujic has revealed that he did everything that he could do to ensure that he re-joined FC Porto from Liverpool this summer.
As reported by the ECHO on Tuesday morning, the Reds and the Primeira Liga club have agreed a deal worth £10.5m for the Serbia international to return to Portugal.
Grujic arrived in Portugal late on Monday evening, having been given permission to leave the Reds’ pre-season training camp in Austria to finalise his Anfield exit.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at the Estadio do Dragao and helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
“I’m really happy,“ Grujic told Porto’s official site after joining the club. “I did everything I could to return to FC Porto and I am very happy that this day has arrived.
“The clubs reached an agreement and returning to FC Porto was the most important thing for me, as I felt very good here last season.”
Grujic is one of two expected Liverpool departures over the next 24 hours after a deal was agreed with Union Berlin for Taiwo Awoniyi.
The ECHO understands that Awoniyi is set to complete a £6.5m move to the German side with a medical for the forward scheduled to take place later today.
The ECHO also understands that the Reds have included a 10 per cent sell-on clause in both deals.
Lingard was sent on loan for the second half of last season and he wasted no time impressing with the Hammers, scoring nine and assisting five in just 15 Premier League outings.
That sort of form means it is no surprise that West Ham are interested in signing the midfielder permanently, as cited by the Evening Standard.
But according to a fresh report from Claret and Hugh, who are on the ball with West Ham news, a meeting has taken place between United and Lingard where both parties put their cards on the table.
It’s also claimed Lingard has been offered a £30,000-per-week pay increase to remain at Old Trafford for the coming season but he has stayed quiet when asked about his future by teammates.
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has hinted at a United stay for Lingard, telling the Evening Standard: “He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place.”
That’s bad news for West Ham with all stars now apparently pointing towards a United stay for Lingard, who seems to have gone up in the estimation of his current club on the back of that impressive loan spell last season.
The Blues boss said in late-May: “He’s still young and can still improve. This is what we demand week by week.
“When he has some time to reflect, rest, some time on holiday for mental rest, I’m sure he can take the next steps next year.
“He is not new anymore, he will know the environment, what he is coming back to, his team-mates, what he is up against on the first game and how to adapt. This will help him.
“We try to push the process right now because we need him.”
Similarly to Tuchel, former Chelsea and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas is also excited for what Werner has got to offer the Blues in the future, and also spoke about Kai Havertz, who came over to west London from Germany at the same time.
Fabregas wrote in the Telegraph : “I watch every single Chelsea game, so I’ve followed the first seasons of the club’s two big German signings, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, very closely and I am convinced next season we will start to really see the best of them.
